Please Have Your Papers Ready

Please Have Your Papers Ready

Is this a glimpse of the future (and 11 million people's present) in Trumpland?

Customs and Border Protection agents were photographed checking the IDs of every passenger who stepped off a domestic flight at JFK airport in New York.

One passenger told Gothamist: "The head flight attendant came on and said, 'Please have your papers ready' three or four times. Someone corrected her and she said, 'Oh I mean photo IDs'. To which people were kind of weirded out."

Weird indeed. CBP says it was assisting ICE with a removal order.

How to help immigrants at risk of deportation

There are lots of ways for those not at risk of Trump's deportation orders to stand with those who are.

Sign up with United We Dream's #HereToStay network to stand with immigrants wherever you live.

Sign this petition to urge your mayor and city council to identify your city as a sanctuary.

Urge your faith leader to identify your house of worship as a sanctuary.

If you work in the restaurant industry (or eat at restaurants), join the Sanctuary Restaurants campaign.

If you employ a domestic worker (like a nanny or housecleaner), answer the Sanctuary Home call to action.

If you're in Philadelphia, connect with the New Sanctuary Movement's "Sanctuary in the Streets" program.

Support immigrants whose cases have recently made national news, including Sara Beltran-HernandezJeanette VizguerraGuadalupe Garcia de Rayos, and baby Fatemah Reshad.
