Maybe $200 Million Isn't Enough to Buy a Cabinet Post?

Maybe $200 Million Isn't Enough to Buy a Cabinet Post?

A bunch of Cabinet nominees who have spent their lives doing the opposite of the job they've been nominated to do will probably en up getting confirmed.

Because math.

Betsy DeVos, though, is facing more and more opposition for her nomination to lead the Department of Education.

The reasons are several: guns for grizzlies, a couple hundred million in family political donations, not really a big fan of public schools, that kind of thing.

How to help stop the DeVos nomination

Phone calls to Senators are making a difference. The vote on her nomination has been postponed until January 31, so there's still time to call again.

You can call the Capitol switchboard at 202.224.3121 and ask to speak with your Senators. More detailed contact info for your Senators is here.

DeVos's nomination is far from the only troubling one. For our previous thoughts on the terrible ideas of Sen. Jeff Sessions for JusticeRex Tillerson for State, and Rep. Tom Price for Health & Human Services, check out an this post.

While you're burning those cell phone minutes, it wouldn't hurt to register your opposition to any of these nominees: Steven Mnuchin for Treasury, Andrew Puzder for Labor, Scott Pruitt for the Environmental Protection Agency, Rick Perry for Energy, the list goes on.

Hard to choose? Pick the issues that matter most to you. Every call counts.
