The Murder of Jordan Edwards
Over the weekend in suburban Dallas, a police officer shot and killed a 15 year old African American boy named Jordan Edwards.
Jordan was in a car with his brother and two friends after leaving a house party around 11pm. The officer used his rifle to shoot through the car window, hitting Jordan in the head.
The Chief of Police of the Balch Springs Police Department, Jonathan Haber, originally defended his officer, explaining that the car backed up toward him "in an aggressive manner."
Chief Haber has since changed that story.
“After further investigation," he said, "I have additional information that is contradictory to the information that was provided to me yesterday. … In fact, according to the video that I viewed the vehicle was moving forward as the officer was approached."
