Weird how this land of (mostly) immigrants keeps debating whether we’re a land of immigrants.

Today President* Trump – with help from Senators Tom Cotton (R-AK) and David Perdue (R-GA) – unveiled a bill that’s basically the legislative version of this year’s White House intern class.

Channeling the spirit of the 1882 “Chinese Exclusion Act” and 1954 “Operation Wetback”, the bill would drastically curb legal immigration.

Like, by 50%.

The bill would also limit pathways for family members, end the diversity visa program, prioritize English speakers, and cap refugee admissions at 50,000 per year (for perspective, there are currently 65 million refugees and displaced people worldwide).

So in a nutshell, no:  we’re not surprised that Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon had a hand in drafting this.
