Finally there’s a little slice of humanity to offset the slew of gut-wrenching stories from the last week.

A call for donations has gone viral on Facebook, raising millions of dollars in mere days to help immigrant families at the border.

Charlotte and Dave Willner, parents who both work in Silicon Valley, launched the campaign on Saturday to help RAICES, a Texas-based nonprofit that provides legal services to immigrants parents who want out of detention and to be reunited with their children. The Willner’s initial goal was to raise $1,500 — the minimum cost for immigrants to bond out of detention. But in just three days, they raised more than $11 million.

“We are collectively revulsed at what's happening to immigrant families on our southern border. In times when we often think that the news can't possibly get worse, it does,” they wrote in their appeal for funds.

What’s even more remarkable is that Willners have no direct connection with RAICES. Charlotte says she was just a mom who got “reeeeeaaalll fed up reading the news.”
