How to Help: The Last Sip, Episode Seven, May 27

On a special Memorial Day edition of The Last Sip, Imara Jones talks with Rashad Robinson.

Rashad leads Color of Change, the largest online racial justice organization. Imara and Rashad discuss the persistence of racism in the United States and how millions of people are mobilizing to fight it.

Rashad describes Color of Change's view of power, and the difference between power and the presence.  Power, according to Rashad, is the ability to change the rules. Color of Change uses a four-part framework (respond, build, pivot, scale) to change unjust rules.

Rashad also describes Color of Change's strategic decision to focus attention on corporate bad behavior, and in particular corporate membership in the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).

Watch the video for the full conversation, and connect with Rashad Robinson on Twitter.

You can also join Color of Change's work here, where you'll find lots of ways to plug into campaigns for media justice, economic justice, and criminal justice.
